The UK has one performing rights (PRS) and one mechanical rights organisation (MCPS).
•PRS is the Performing Rights Society, the UK performing rights licensing organisation.
•MCPS is the Mechanical Copyright Protection Society, the UK mechanical rights organisation.
•ALCS was founded in 1977 to enable writers to receive fees that are uniquely or more effectively handled collectively. Today it represents more than 35,000 members and associates, and collects and distributes fees to many more individual writers in Britain.
In the UK, the organisation for songwriters is •BAC&S, the British Academy Of Composers and Songwriters, a very professional organisation which is an amalgamation of BASCA (the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers & Authors - formerly the Songwriters Guild of Great Britian), the Association of Professional Composers, and the Composers Guild Of Great Britain.
